I started this blog to document my foray into amateur radio. Amateur radio has always fascinated me from the time I was a teen. My grandparents were very involved and both had their Amateur Extra licenses in the early 80s. My grandmother even taught electronics and ham radio at their local community college. Both have now passed on. I look forward to someday obtaining my Amateur Extra license and requesting my Grandfather’s call sign.
I am not new to electronics or electrical work. I worked on a number of electronic projects as a boy scout in 70s and 80s. I was also a Nuclear Electricians’ Mate and Plant Operator in the United States Navy’s Submarine Service. I then went to work as a construction electrician afterward before moving in to computer networking and server administration.
I am hopeful that people will find some of the things I have done here to work for them and be budget friendly.
